Behind the Facade

So you've seen all those pictures of doors and windows, but what is behind all these colorful facades?  Let me tell you, in most cases it’s a lot more than you’d expect.  Let’s take a look at one.

So here you have what appears to be a modest colonial.  Located on Calle 55 in the Santiago area of Merida.  In my opinion, this is one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city.

Let's take a look inside.  It's amazing what you'll find.

Here you have the living room or sitting room.

Throughout the house you will see some of the original pasta tile left from the original colonial home over 100 years ago.

.
The center courtyard - yes, this is right in the center of the home.
In Merida, it's all about living inside and outside at the same time.

A great place for a siesta.

Of course there are bedrooms as well.  This particular home has three.  I'd show you pictures but I haven't made the beds yet!  Maybe later...

update to this blog.....The beds have been made.
